I wrote the book when I was seventeen, during my final year of high school. I wanted to write a book that expressed a lot of the problems and issues that I saw among my friends and school mates. That's why I made references to things like drinking alcohol and even drug use. These weren't things that I did, but they were things I saw other people do! What did I want to do with my life? What did I believe? I think that's what I wanted to express through Ruthie, AJ and Erika.
